Valdivia's big summer party
The Noche Valdiviana (Valdivia Night) is the most awaited night of the year in Valdivia, southern Chile: a tradition of more than a hundred years held on the banks of the Calle-Calle River, with music, a river parade of decorated boats and fireworks. It is held on a Saturday in the last week of February, the closing event of the Semana Valdiviana. The next one is expected on Saturday, 27 February 2027.
What happens on the night
River parade
Decorated boats and catamarans parade and compete with allegorical themes. The 2026 edition counted around 70 vessels.
Live music
Shows on the riverfront (costanera) through the afternoon and evening.
Fireworks
The finale over the river and bridges, in recent years around 23:30 for about 15 minutes.
Huge crowds
The riverfront fills with tens of thousands of people, so a seat on the water is a big advantage.
